Valerie and Erin met as college freshman and endured varying bouts of singledom together. After sharing an apartment in Japan meant for one person, they backpacked through Southeast Asia.

While they never lived together again, and in fact moved to opposite coasts, Val and Erin remain good friends. Erin cried at Val’s wedding.
